FILMOSOFIA ARCHIVES

filmosofia is a public philosophy series based on a pairing of (a) a reading selection, and (b) an accompanying film screening, which is free and open to the general public at Rozz-Tox. I select an article, usually a classic from a reputable scholarly journal or influential book of analytic philosophy, and distribute print copies for free at Rozz-Tox and Source Bookstore about a month before the scheduled screening. Just before the screening, I distribute my post-screening discussion notes, and engage in informal discussions with attendees about filmosofia, the film selection, or the reading selection from about 6:30pm until the start of the film at 7:00pm. Then, after the film screening, I lead a one-hour discussion on some key philosophical concepts and arguments, and I usually present and defend at least one argument about some themes related to both the reading and film selections. Below are archives of posters, promotional images, photos from sessions, and discussion notes.

filmosofia was started by myself and benjamin fawks in mid-2023. I am the primary organizer and sole discussion leader for all filmosofia sessions.
